Overview
We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Afternoon Child Care Teacher to join our dedicated team. The hours for this position are Monday-Friday from 2:30pm-6pm. If your schedule allows, there may be opportunities for more hours. In this role, you will provide attentive care and engaging activities for children during the afternoon hours, ensuring their safety, happiness, and developmental progress. Your enthusiasm and professionalism will help create a positive atmosphere that supports early childhood growth and learning.
Duties
- Supervise children in a safe, caring environment during afternoon hours, ensuring their well-being at all times
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment conducive to learning and play
- Monitor children’s behavior using positive behavior management techniques to foster respectful interactions
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s daily experiences and developmental milestones
- Assist with diapering, feeding, nap time routines, and other caregiving responsibilities as needed
- Follow all safety protocols, including first aid procedures and emergency response plans
Skills
- Experience working with young children in preschool or daycare settings
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
- Ability to manage classroom behavior with patience and consistency
- First aid certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire
- Strong communication skills for engaging with children, parents, and team members
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is a plus
- Passion for nurturing children’s growth through caring teaching methods
