Job Summary
he Preschool Teacher & Assistant Director plays a dual role in supporting the educational excellence and smooth daily operations of the center. This individual will serve as the lead teacher in the classroom, fostering a safe and nurturing environment for young children, while also assisting the Director in administrative, supervisory, and compliance-related responsibilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesClassroom Instruction & Child Development
- Plan, implement, and evaluate daily lessons aligned with Creative Curriculum, state standards, and child development best practices.
- Create a nurturing, inclusive classroom that supports social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.
- Document observations, assessments, and progress through Teaching Strategies GOLD.
- Ensure a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment compliant with licensing standards.
- Communicate effectively with families through daily updates, parent-teacher conferences, and progress reports.
Administrative & Leadership Support
- Assist the Director in daily operations, including scheduling, enrollment, and family communication.
- Support staff supervision and provide coaching, mentoring, and feedback.
- Review lesson plans and ensure curriculum implementation across classrooms.
- Maintain compliance with COMAR regulations, licensing, and Maryland EXCELS standards.
- Monitor attendance, student files, and required documentation for accuracy.
- Act as the Director when the Director is unavailable, handling parent concerns and urgent matters.
- Support center marketing, tours, and enrollment initiatives.
- Coordinate professional development and staff meetings as directed.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (required for Assistant Director duties).
- CDA or equivalent credential (minimum requirement if no degree).
- At least 2–3 years of classroom teaching experience; 1 years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of COMAR regulations, licensing requirements, and Maryland EXCELS standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to balance classroom teaching with administrative responsibilities.
Working Conditions
- Full-time schedule, with flexibility to support both classroom and administrative needs.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs, engage actively with children, and handle the demands of a fast-paced childcare environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
