WHAT’S ON YOUR PLATE
Under the general direction of the Culinary Director and Senior Leaders, the Sous Chef oversees daily
kitchen operations and provides structure, organization and leadership for the culinary team. This role
sets a benchmark for excellence—driving efficiency, consistency, and uncompromising standards.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Leadership, Training, and Development
● Mentor the kitchen team, fostering an environment of professionalism and accountability.
● Onboard, train, and coach team members while reinforcing company expectations and values.
● Support continuous education on food, wine, service, technique, and agriculture.
● Lead and manage the kitchen team, ensuring readiness and execution of service.
Operational Excellence and Systems
● Oversee ingredient preparation, organization, and production systems to ensure quality,
consistency, and efficiency.
● Maintain and enforce standardized recipes, production guides, logs, and checklists.
● Manage scheduling, labor costs, and payroll processes in alignment with operational demands.
● Assist with inventory tracking, purchasing, storage organization, and waste reduction.
● Uphold food safety, sanitation, and compliance standards across all kitchen operations.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
● Partner with the Culinary Senior Leadership on systems, scheduling, and workflow integration.
● Collaborate with Restaurant and Events chefs to align production with menu needs.
● Ensure smooth service and a consistent guest experience through clear communication between
front and back of house.
● Guide kitchen operations to ensure pace, consistency, and alignment with Little Saint’s seasonal,
plant‑based culinary vision.
● Complete other duties as assigned to ensure a cohesive team and shared responsibility.
WHO YOU ARE
● Minimum 3 years of progressive culinary experience
● Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities under time constraints
● English proficiency, with strong written and verbal communication skills
● Basic math and computer literacy
● An empathetic leader who motivates teams, builds culture, and leads by example
● Business-minded, with a track record of balancing financial responsibility with creative ambition
● Flexible with the ability to work evenings, holidays and extended hours
● California Food Safety Certified and well-versed in state food safety and public health regulations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
● Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
● Ability to regularly and continuously lift up to 50 pounds
● Manual dexterity and the ability to perform repetitive motions
● Frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching
