Summary
Little Roots Learning LLC is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Full-Time Toddler Teacher to join our team. This position is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment for children ages 18 months to 3 years. The ideal candidate enjoys supporting toddlers as they develop independence, communication, social-emotional skills, and a love of learning through play. We are looking for someone who is patient, energetic, collaborative, and committed to providing high-quality early childhood education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and implement age-appropriate learning experiences that support all areas of child development.
- Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment that encourages exploration, curiosity, and independence.
- Build positive, responsive relationships with each child while supporting their individual developmental needs.
- Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being indoors and outdoors.
- Assist children with diapering, toilet learning, handwashing, meals, and other daily care routines while promoting independence.
- Observe, document, and assess children’s growth and development using program-approved assessment tools.
- Maintain accurate daily records, including meals, naps, toileting/diapering, and classroom observations.
- Foster positive social interactions by modeling appropriate behavior and guiding children through conflict resolution using positive behavior support techniques.
- Prepare and maintain an organized, clean, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
- Sanitize toys, materials, and classroom equipment according to health and safety standards.
- Follow all Vermont Child Care Licensing Regulations, health and safety requirements, and Little Roots Learning LLC policies and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow teachers and administration to ensure consistent care and quality programming.
- Communicate professionally with families regarding their child’s daily experiences, developmental progress, and classroom activities.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, professional development opportunities, and center events.
- Support smooth daily transitions and maintain consistent classroom routines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with toddlers or young children preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively participate in all aspects of classroom activities.
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to pass required background checks and meet all Vermont childcare licensing requirements.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
