- Assumes Full Technical Supervisory role when Supervisor is unavailable.
- Schedules and distributes daily work orders. Organizes and directs techs.
- Reviews major repair status and needs with Fleet Supervisor and Coordinator.
- Verifies all repairs are made correctly. (Quality Control)
- Investigates previous repairs and tracks any rework.
- Leads vehicle replacement program inspection and makes recommendation to Fleet Supervisor.
- Evaluates and accounts for shop tools and material inventories & recommends repair/replacement, as needed.
- Evaluates and identifies upcoming needed maintenance or repair for vehicles/equipment while in the shop for maintenance/repair.
- Ensures service diagnostic equipment and software are up to date and accessible.
- Ensures vehicles, equipment and maintenance facilities remain clean and organized with a good physical appearance.
- Performs repair vs replacement cost analysis and makes recommendation to Fleet Supervisor and Coordinator for assets in need of repair.
- Assists Supervisor with tracking and identifying vehicle and equipment repairs to prevent recurrences.
- Assists Supervisor and Coordinator with collection and evaluation of products and capabilities of vendors and suppliers.
- Assists Supervisor and Coordinator in tracking and charting monthly achievements.
- Assists Supervisor and Coordinator in the collection of and analyzation of monthly cost data to make recommendations on actions that could reduce costs or downtime.
- Assists Coordinator with decommissioning and making retired units ready for sale as well as gathering all information needed for disposal.
- Assists Coordinator in planning and scheduling large jobs, when possible, to maximize Fleet availability.
- Assists in receiving supplies, checking receivers to ensure correct supplies, quantity, and quality of parts and supplies received.
- Assists Coordinator with ordering & receiving fuel deliveries and maintaining fuel island.
- Assists with maintaining and purchasing non-stock parts to complete projects using purchasing card.
- Assists Coordinator in developing Fleet Maintenance preventive maintenance work schedules.
- Ensures self and others follow established work procedures and practices.
- Ensures self and others follow safety practices and guidelines, including wearing proper personal protective/safety equipment due to possible exposure to hazardous chemicals, flammable liquids, biological hazards, toxic/flammable compressed gases and confined spaces.
- Assists and trains other personnel as needed.
- Undertakes any reasonable request within capabilities that is for the good of the community and LRWRA and/or CAW.
Typical Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum (required):
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years overall experience in Fleet Maintenance or equivalent.
- Must maintain current ASE Master Certified or obtain within one (01) year
- Must possess and maintain a valid Arkansas Class A Commercial driver's license or ability to obtain within one (01) year.
- Must obtain CDL tanker endorsement within 30 days of either date of employment or date of obtention of CDL License.
- Prefer knowledge and experience in CMMS database, i.e., EAM (Central Square) and Outlook.
- Knowledge of equipment and tools needed for Fleet Maintenance repair procedures.
- Knowledge of computers using Windows-based word processing software, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Knowledge of all aspects of Fleet Maintenance.
- Ability to transmit and receive clear, concise messages.
- Ability to coordinate work requests with other utility departments.
- Ability to document programs and procedures.
- Ability to schedule major repairs and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Ability to diplomatically deal with other departments, divisions, and the public.
- Ability to work with the public tactfully and courteously, particularly in trying situations.
