What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at LITTLE RIVERS HEALTH CARE INC?
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms; prepares patient for provider visit by obtaining and recording initial information, vital signs, height and weight as appropriate; anticipates provider and patient needs based on reason for visit.
2. Checks patient’s medical record for pertinent data; checks medications with each visit.
3. Stocks exam rooms and supply rooms/closets; orders and maintains inventory of medical supplies.
4. Unpacks and verifies supply orders.
5. Maintains medication sample stock.
6. Performs patient blood draws as needed.
7. Collects blood, urine, tissue and other specimens and performs point-of-care laboratory tests as ordered by providers.
8. Performs immunizations, injections and EKGs as ordered by providers.
9. Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
10. Relays prescription information to pharmacies as ordered by providers.
11. Assists providers with office-based procedures.
12. Tracks patients’ test results, brings abnormal values to providers’ attention in a timely manner.
13. Manages patient flow to ensure efficient use of providers’ time and attention.
14. Performs other clinical duties within scope of training and experience as assigned.
15. Assists with front office coverage as directed by Practice Administrator.
Qualifications:High school diploma or GED
LICENSURE: Prefer certificate from a recognized Medical Assistant Program
WORK EXPERIENCE: Previous medical office experience preferred. Must have knowledge of medical terminology; understanding of clinical situations and appropriate medical assistant interventions; good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to attend to details well; willingness to be flexible with duties as needed; knowledge of general office equipment, general medical equipment used in diagnostic and treatment of patients in outpatient primary care setting, computer and printer.
