Dental: Billing Specialist - Remote NC or SC
* Dental Office Billing Experience Required! *
Must be willing / able to commute to the office in Little River, SC during the first 90-day training period as needed.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Billing Specialist will be responsible for generating revenue by making payment arrangements, collecting accounts, monitoring and pursuing delinquent accounts. The Billing Specialist must have thorough knowledge and experience specifically in medical office billing. Must be a resident of NC or SC to be considered for this remote position.
This position is remote. Must reside in SC or NC. Able to commute to office when needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but not limited to:
- Review and interpret patient eligibility, insurance coverage, and benefits
- Obtain claim status by accessing payer resources
- Work with payers to bring resolution to claims as quickly as possible, obtaining the maximum reimbursement
- Communicate effectively with other departments and patients
- File corrected claims with appropriate medical records
- Compose and submit effective and grammatically correct appeal letters
- Retrieve, review, and understand remittance advice from payers
- Ability to post payments according to remittance advice posting all payments by the end of the month.
- Ability to interpret financial reports when presented with data
- Monitor the status of denial trends and report issues to supervisor
- Ability to work independently with confidence in using judgment, according to the financial procedures/policies
- Ability to work effectively both in the office and remotely
- Ability to multi- task and prioritize job duties/responsibilities
- Knowledgeable in charge entry and claim coding requirements per payer
- Knowledgeable in HEDIS Measures
- Maintains confidentiality regarding patient account status
- Knowledge of patient accounts and ability to convey information to the patient as needed
- Knowledge of basic billing/coding principles and ability to apply that knowledge in a live environment
- Maintain attention to detail in all aspects of daily work
- Work with the Accounting Department to ensure proper balancing and ledger entries
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or Ged required
- Dental billing experience required.
- Medical billing experience.
- AAPC certification is a plus.
- Experience with eClinicalWorks preferred.
- Community Health Center or FQHC experience helpful.
- FQHC certification is a plus, but not required.
