Position Summary

The Associate Preschool Teacher works collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and teaching team to create and deliver engaging learning experiences for preschool-age children. This role supports classroom instruction, student development, family communication, and the daily operation of a safe, positive, and well-organized classroom.

Important Qualification Requirement

Candidates must meet New Hampshire Child Care Licensing Unit (CCLU) requirements for Associate/Lead Teacher qualification upon hire. Please review the qualification pathways below before applying.

Classroom Instruction & Learning

• Support the planning, implementation, and delivery of age-appropriate, hands-on learning experiences.
• Foster children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development through active and play-based learning.
• Encourage creativity, curiosity, independence, and confidence in young learners.

Student Engagement

• Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued and supported.
• Promote positive social interactions and age-appropriate behavior development.
• Observe and support children's progress and developmental milestones.

Team Collaboration

• Partner effectively with the Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher to maintain a safe, engaging, and organized classroom.
• Participate in team meetings, planning discussions, and school-wide activities as needed.
• Contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive staff culture.

Family Communication

• Build positive, professional relationships with families.
• Share meaningful updates regarding classroom activities and children's growth and development.
• Support strong family-school partnerships.

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy classroom environment.
• Follow all New Hampshire childcare licensing regulations and Little Pilgrim School policies and procedures.
• Ensure proper supervision and well-being of all children in your care.

Required Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet at least one of the following New Hampshire qualification pathways for center-based Lead Teacher status:

• Minimum of 12 credits in Early Childhood Education, including a course in Child Growth and Development, plus 3,000 documented hours of experience in a licensed early childhood program.
• A current, non-expired Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential for center-based programs.
• Current teacher certification in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Special Education issued by the Department of Education.
• An Associate's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field.
• Successful completion of a two-year vocational career/technical teacher education program, plus 9 credits in early childhood coursework and 1,000 hours of supervised experience.

Additional Requirements

• Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential for success in this role. Young children thrive on routine and familiar relationships, and our teachers play an important role in providing a stable, dependable classroom environment for students and families.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must successfully complete all required New Hampshire background checks and fingerprinting.
• Must hold or be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification before the start of employment.
• Must complete required licensing health documentation indicating good physical health.
