JOB TITLE: Special Education Paraprofessional w/ Driving
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma
- Some college or experience
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred, but not required
REPORTS TO: Preschool Principal
RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Special Education Teacher; Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To assist the teacher in providing education and instruction to the students
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 months; 35 hours/week
EVALUATION: Evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the district’s Personnel Evaluation Policy
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Consistent and punctual "on site" attendance at the worksite is an essential job function
- Works cooperatively with classroom and special education teaching team to provide quality instruction and supervision
- Uses positive forms of communication with children in the classroom
- Demonstrates confidentiality
- Helps in the care of the classroom including sanitizing classroom toys and materials
- Assists special education students in the classroom by providing additional supports such as hand-over-hand guidance, expectations reminders, and movement breaks
- Assembles and organizes materials to be used during instruction by Classroom Teachers and Special Education Teachers
- Interacts with children during play by expanding on vocabulary and social skills
- Supports the Special Education Teacher by documenting objective observation notes
- Assist with inventory of supplies and equipment
- Other duties as assigned by the Special Education Teacher or Preschool Principal
