What We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for a full-time dishwasher/porter to come in and take ownership of our dish room. Dishwashing is hands-down one of the most critical components of running a successful food business. Right now, everyone on staff pitches in for dishes, but we’re now so busy that the work requires a full-time, dedicated role.

Must be available weekends- Shifts start at 6am or 10am

Day-to-day responsibilities:

• Operate dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchenware / bakery items efficiently
• Maintain cleanliness of the dishwashing area
• Assist with clearing away bus bins to keep the cafe looking tidy
• Follow all food handling and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment
• Sweep & mop the dishroom and BOH and help FOH team close
• Sanitize surfaces at the and of the day
• Sweep and clean cafe area, wipe down cafe tables, bus dishes, and clean bathrooms as needed

What You Bring to the Table:

Dishwashing in a high-volume place requires organization, thinking ahead, and shifting gears quickly to accommodate items that the kitchen or coffee bar might need. We love to “ABC” here– “always be closing” – which means getting yourself and the team set up for success at the end of the day.

Requirements:

• At least 1 year of experience washing dishes in a busy establishment
• Knowledge of food handling practices and sanitation standards is a plus!
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items when necessary.

Skills:

• Attention to detail and high cleaning standards -- you know the order of operations for cleaning like the back of your hand!
• Solid communication skills -- you & the bakery & the kitchen & FOH need to be in sync
• Positive attitude -- like anything, it can be a slog, but it also can be really fun
• Creative ideas -- we love trying new ways of doing things
• Open-mindedness -- stay open to suggestions, learning something new, not assuming the worst
• Flexibility and understanding -- things don’t always go as planned

Salary

• Base Hourly: $16.00/hr paid weekly
• Avg Pooled Tips: $3.50-$5.00/hr
