Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Assistant Daycare Director to join our Christian early childhood education team. This role is vital in supporting the development, safety, and well-being of children in our care. The ideal candidate will support the Director in planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating, and managing the daily services of our Christian daycare program (Little Lambs). Working under the supervision of the Director, the Assistant Director assists in carrying out delegated responsibilities related to policies, procedures, staff support, and program administration.
The Assistant Director ensures day-to-day operations run smoothly by assisting with classroom oversight, staff scheduling, parent communication, and compliance with institutional regulations and state/local daycare licensing requirements. This role helps maintain a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered environment by supporting the Director in the facilitation, planning, and coordination of developmentally appropriate educational programs and activities.
In the Director’s absence, the Assistant Director may assume temporary leadership responsibilities to maintain continuity of care, uphold program standards, and ensure the well-being of children, families, and staff.
Duties:
Supports compliance by assisting with documentation, daily ratio checks, safety procedures, and reporting concerns to the Director.
Assists in staff scheduling, onboarding orientation, coaching, and communication, but does not make hiring/firing decisions.
Helps implement policies, reminds staff of expectations, and reports policy concerns to the Director.
Supports daily parent communication, provides updates, and refers concerns to the Director as needed.
Helps prepare materials, organize lesson plans, coordinate special activities, and support teachers in implementing curriculum.
Supports events, assists with tours, and communicates with prospective families at the Director’s direction.
Models Christian character, supports daily faith integration, and assists with faith-based activities.
Acts as the on-site lead when the Director is off-site or unavailable, maintaining continuity of care.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, babysitting, nannying, or classroom settings
- Knowledge of childhood development stages and early childhood education principles
- Experience with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children preferred
- Certification in first aid and CPR is highly desirable
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to handle diverse behavioral needs
- Compassionate caregiver with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment
- Reliable, patient, adaptable, and committed to providing high-quality childcare
