What You’ll Do
Classroom Management & Childcare
- Collaborate with Lead Teachers and fellow staff to create a nurturing, well-managed classroom
- Provide attentive supervision at all times, maintaining OCFS ratio compliance
- Build positive relationships with children and families
- Support children’s basic needs, social development, and emotional well-being
- Use responsive discipline and self-regulation techniques to guide behavior
- Maintain classroom inventory and request supplies as needed
- Step into classroom leadership when Lead Teacher is absent
Curriculum & Learning Support
- Help implement developmentally appropriate, engaging curriculum using Creative Curriculum and best practices
- Set up learning and play activities with age-appropriate tools and materials
- Support a consistent daily routine that fosters stability and security
- Keep the classroom clean, organized, and welcoming
- Communicate with families and administrators using the Procare app to document learning and daily activities
Compliance & Professional Development
- Follow all OCFS, DOH, CACFP, and LGCFL policies and regulations
- Complete required annual training (15 hours), including:
- Mandated Reporting
- Supervision of Children
- Mental Health Awareness
- Responsive Care Techniques
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1 year of childcare experience preferred
- Spanish-speaking is a plus, but not required
