Duties
- Assist lead teachers in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that promote literacy, math skills, social-emotional growth, and creative exploration.
- Support classroom management by supervising children during activities, transitions, outdoor play, and mealtimes to ensure safety and positive behavior.
- Engage children in educational play, encouraging curiosity, communication, and problem-solving skills aligned with early childhood development standards.
- Help maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that complies with educational regulations and safety standards.
- Communicate regularly with parents about their child's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones to foster strong home-school connections.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt instructional strategies for children with special needs or disabilities, including those with autism or requiring additional support.
- Utilize educational technologies and computers to enhance learning experiences and track student progress effectively.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with young children in classroom or childcare settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles, early childhood education best practices, and classroom behavior management techniques.
- Familiarity with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) guidelines and educational compliance standards.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members.
- Ability to supervise children safely at all times while demonstrating patience and empathy.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required or obtainable upon hire; ongoing training is encouraged.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or autism is a plus; prior private school experience is advantageous.
- Competence in using computers and educational technologies to support classroom activities.
