We're looking for an organized, self-motivated, and enthusiastic Group Home Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate is responsible for the overall operations conducted at the Children’s Group Home that ensures appropriate services to the children in accordance with Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) standards and the Department of Human Services (DHS).


Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Psychology, Social Work, or other Human Services fields.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Supervisory/managerial experience required. 
  • 2 to 3 years of supervisory experience in a social service setting preferred.
  • Minimum age 25 with valid IL driver’s license and auto insurance required.
  • Reliable transportation and good driving record (No more than 2 moving violations in the last 5 years.
  • Must be able to show proof of automobile insurance and be an eligible DCFS driver.
  • Must be able to complete background checks and physical, drug test, and TB test.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be capable of reading, writing, and speaking English to plan, coordinate, and schedule programming with program staff and children, guardians/caregivers (when necessary), other agency staff, and stakeholders. Written communication must be clear, concise, grammatically correct, and free of spelling errors.
  • Must possess sufficient strength, agility, and sensory acuity to support program participants safely and effectively during programming hours. This includes responding to behavioral problems in which the child is displaying aggression towards themselves or others, or other emergencies using learned safety measures, as well as assisting with daily living tasks (such as toileting or dressing) with children weighing 60 lbs.
  • Must behave in a professional manner that reflects positively on themself and Little Friends Inc. This includes demonstrating high commitment to customer service and customer satisfaction for all internal and external customers of Little Friends Inc.
  • Must possess sufficient computer skills to plan for both in-house and community programming.
  • Must be aware of, and follow, the policies and procedures of Little Friends Inc., Residential services and Children’s Group Home.
  • Is required to complete all training and re-certifications as per Little Friends, Residential, DCFS and DHS.
  • Must complete the 40-hour RBT training through Infinitec (provided by Little Friends) or an outside source.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Responsible for the training and enforcement of policies and procedure outlined in Little Friends Employee Handbook as well as the policies and procedures of the Children’s Group Home and Residential Services. Demonstrates the ability to make sound judgments, provide appropriate child services and be able to supervise children unassisted by other staff.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, evaluating and supervising Children’s Group Home staff. Ensure that Little Friend’s human resource and payroll policies are followed.
  • Train and mentor all staff on their job responsibilities to provide consistency in programming. Ensures the development and implementation of staff orientation, in-service training programs and on the job training.
  • Shall conduct regular meetings, submit minutes of meetings to the Director of Children’s Residential Services and review meeting topics with all staff not in attendance at meetings. This includes team, house and 1:1 meetings with assigned staff. Shall participate in committees/teams as assigned.
  • Follow program guidelines, utilize appropriate visual systems and understand prompt levels needed for children.
  • Demonstrate practical skills/experiences necessary to manage the homes. These skills include, but are not limited to, the ability to cook, menu plan, grocery shop and adhere to a budget.
  • Provide staff with the tools required to ensure the health and safety of themselves and the children they serve.
  • Develops weekly menus in accordance with "Public Health Nutritional Guidelines", posts menus 2 weeks in advance and maintains records for one year.
  • Participates in the development of the program budget through recommendations regarding staff salary increases and program needs.
  • Administer medications according to DHS Rule 116 as well as the Children’s Group Home Policy and Procedures.
  • Transports children to community locations and ensures their safety and meaningful participation.
  • Communicate regularly with the parents of the children at the Group Home pertaining to programming, medical needs, compliance with rules and regulations and advocacy.
  • Responsible for providing direct child-care for any shift in the event of staff shortages or the need for special assistance.
  • Responsible for monitoring the house operations to ensure safety and DCFS standards are maintained (i.e., water temperature, van and master key maintenance).
  • Complete on-call responsibilities as required by the program.
  • Participate in the intake process of new children through measures including, but not limited to observation at their school and/or home, reviewing referral information, and supervising visits to the home.
  • Available to respond to emergency situations during off-duty hours.
  • Conducts quarterly meetings at minimum with Group Home Staff and weekly leadership meetings with Lead staff.
  • Works closely with the Director of Children’s Residential Services and the Vice President of Residential Services to ensure consistent implementation of programming for the children.

Work Days/Times: Monday-Friday 9am - 5pm (hours vary, must be flexible and include on call)

Hours per Week: 37.5

Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 annually
