What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Worker I position at Little Falls Hospital?
Completes assigned functions within the Food and Nutrition Service department, excellent customer service, operates and maintains the dietary food equipment. Through constant interactions with customers, physicians, nursing, and visitors will provide efficient, courteous, and accurate service. Performs a variety of routine duties in the sanitation area of the Food and Nutrition Service Department.
Essential Job Functions
- Performs a variety of customer, food and sanitation related activities, troubleshooting as necessary.
- Develop and maintain 100% of the time excellent communication skills with patients, customers and coworkers. Respond to patient and customer issues and concerns in a timely manner as observed by Food and Nutrition Service Department Leader and feedback from other staff.
- Assesses the needs of the customer, and delivers products to meet these needs as reflected on biannual retail survey and random customer interviews by Leader.
- Records food temperatures during meal hours, and takes action when temperatures are not to standards.
- Adheres to the BHN Personal Appearance policy and wears provided uniforms during scheduled shifts.
- Completes all daily washing and sanitizing 100% of the time as observed by Food and Nutrition Service Department Leader and feedback from other staff. Any exceptions will be reported to the Food and Nutrition Service Department Leader.
- Maintains a safe and clean work area 100% of the time as observed by Food and Nutrition Service Department Leader and feedback from other staff.
- 100% compliance on all record keeping requirements.
- Perform all assigned daily and monthly cleaning as observed by Food and Nutrition Service Department Leader.
- Completes weekly cleaning list as observed by the Food and Nutrition Service Department Leader.
- Performs appropriate role with regard to equipment maintenance and supplies.
- Respects and uses equipment appropriately 100% of the time as observed by Food and Nutrition Service Department Leader and feedback from other staff.
- Will train new employees in the correct manner of workflows as observed by the Leader, Food Service Worker II or Food Service Worker III.
- Will clean and stock immediate work area before leaving at end of shift as observed by Leader.
- Controls food and paper waste and uses resources efficiently as observed by Leader.
- Maintains and checks floor par stocks on assigned floors and on call rooms as observed by Food and Nutrition Service Department Leader, Nursing Staff and feedback from other coworkers.
- Ensures excellent customer service.
- Will present a professional courteous manner 100% of the time when dealing with patients, physicians, visitors and staff as observed by Food and Nutrition Service Department Leader and feedback from other staff. Any exceptions are to be reported to the Food and Nutrition Service Department Leader.
- Will greet each patient and customer with a smile and a helpful demeanor, 100% of the time as observed by Leader.
- Will resolve customer complaints in a polite manner, with an eye to resolution that meets the expectations of the patient or customer.
- Treats co-workers with respect and allows for different work styles and viewpoints.
- Plays an active role in department huddles.
Education/Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
Experience:
- Previous Food Service experience, preferred

Physical Requirements:
