Summer Custodian 2026

The Little Compton School Department is seeking summer custodial help from mid-June to the end of August at the Wilbur & McMahon School. The Custodian works under direct supervision of the WMS Principal and Head Custodian, performing detailed cleaning work in the school, offices and facilities of the School Department, following a schedule of cleaning and maintenance tasks and job-related work as required. This is a part-time seasonal (summer) position. Primary Responsibilities include: Sweep, scrub, mop and wax floors; vacuum and clean carpets Dust and polish furniture and woodwork Empty and clean waste receptacles Assist with recycling efforts Clean restroom, sink and drinking fountains Wash windows and walls, and remove graffiti; polish metal work Clean window coverings Assist in moving and arranging furniture and equipment, and setting up rooms Prepare fields for special events and/or athletic events, as directed by Principal or Head Custodian Take care of equipment and materials and make minor non-technical repairs, replace lights, adjust shades or blinds, furniture and desks, change heating filters Inspect grounds, parking lots and sidewalks and report any unsafe conditions Inspect for, and report safety problems that cannot be easily remedied Properly dispose of hazardous and infectious materials, in accordance with district policies and procedures Keep informed of current methods, tactics, regulations and guidelines pertaining to school operation and maintenance Participate in Professional Development, as requested by the Principal or Head Custodian Other related duties as assigned by the Administration Maintain property security and vandalism control of the school Responsible for security of the building, and locking and arming the building Other duties as assigned by the Principal, Head Custodian, or Superintendent.
