Job Overview
Lititz Apothecary is an independent community pharmacy seeking an experienced part-time pharmacist to join our team.
This is not a position limited to compounding. The pharmacist will work within our regular community pharmacy operation, including prescription verification, patient counseling, vaccinations, and supporting day-to-day pharmacy workflow.
However, we are actively expanding our compounding services, so experience or formal training in compounding is highly valued. For the right pharmacist, there is an opportunity to become involved in the continued development of our compounding program.
We are particularly interested in someone who enjoys independent pharmacy, is comfortable taking ownership of their work, and wants to be involved in more than simply checking prescriptions.
Responsibilities
- Perform pharmacist verification and oversee safe prescription dispensing
- Counsel patients and communicate with prescribers regarding medication therapy
- Administer vaccinations and support our clinical pharmacy services
- Work collaboratively with pharmacists, technicians, and pharmacy leadership
- Maintain compliance with Pennsylvania pharmacy regulations and applicable pharmacy standards
- Support efficient daily pharmacy operations and patient care
- Participate in compounding activities based on experience and training
- For candidates with compounding expertise, assist with formulation review, documentation, quality processes, SOPs, staff training, and regulatory compliance
- Help identify opportunities to improve and expand pharmacy services
Qualifications
- Active Pennsylvania pharmacist license in good standing
- Community/retail pharmacy experience strongly preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Comfortable working independently and making sound professional decisions
- Excellent communication and patient-care skills
- Immunization certification preferred
Compounding experience is preferred but not required. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Nonsterile compounding
- USP <795> and USP <800>
- Hazardous drug handling
- Compounding SOPs and quality systems
- BHRT, dermatologic, pain, veterinary, or other customized formulations
- PCCA, MEDISCA, Fagron, or comparable formal compounding education
Schedule & Compensation
This is a part-time position averaging approximately 8-12 hours per week, with some flexibility in scheduling.
Compensation: $62-$70 per hour, based on pharmacy experience, compounding expertise, and ability to contribute to our expanding services.
There may be opportunities for additional hours and responsibilities as our clinical and compounding programs continue to grow.
