Press Helper
Lithotype Company, a 100% Employee-Owned flexible packaging company in Bolingbrook, IL, is seeking a Flexo Printing Press Helpers f to become an integral part of their team.
Primary role is to assist the press operator in accordance with established practices and standards. May operate the press in the absence of the press operator and under the supervision of the Pressroom Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the press operator in accordance with established practices and standards.
- May operate the press in the absence of the press operator and under the supervision of the Pressroom Supervisor.
- Assure all of the machinery, equipment and presses are properly maintained and running at a suitable efficiency rate.
- Read job dockets and sign to acknowledge understanding job details.
- Review laydown and set up.
- Replace doctor blades and end seals.
- Pull plates.
- Inspect Web as running.
- Retrieve and breakdown stock.
- Stage next job when time permits
- Monitor ink levels on press and maintain ink viscosity and PH levels.
- Splice new rolls on unwind and remove rolls from rewind.
- Remove anilox rollers and plate cylinders.
- Install chambers on the print units, connect supply and drain lines and set up operation.
- Clean and organize press area.
- Assist the press operator to help get the press running.

- Ensure product produced meets all quality standards and specifications.
- Constant attention to conduct work and operate machinery in a safe manner.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Meet the physical demands which require standing, stooping, climbing, bending, stepping up and down from machinery, and consistently walking and standing.
Good math and problem solving skills
Able to read and understand materials requirements and specifications
Good computer aptitude
Good mechanical aptitude
Able to work overtime

Desirable Skills/Experience
Minimum 1 year of printing experience as a helper. Flexible printing experience desirable.
Knowledgeable of proper ink additives and amounts to use.
Minimum of High School diploma.
Familiarity with job dockets, control sheets, and register controls.
