Engineering Technician | Aved

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineering Technician possesses a strong background in electronics testing, process development, and documentation. This role supports the design, build and troubleshooting of wiring systems, harnesses, and electromechanical assemblies. The ideal candidate will work closely with engineers, cell leaders and production supervisors to ensure high-quality, cost-effective manufacturing processes. 

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Collaborate on the design, documentation, and building of NPI and prototype assemblies (CAD layouts, BOMs, wire run lists, testing protocols).
• Create detailed process instructions and router sheets to guide component assembly to meet customer specifications.
• Build and maintain harnesses, harness boards, assembly jigs, and test fixtures.
• Troubleshoot and repair harness boards, assembly jigs and test fixtures.
• Assist New Product Introduction (NPI) with revisions and improvements to build and test procedures.
• Support daily manufacturing operations and assist in troubleshoot cable test, developing work instructions and tooling.
• Perform preventive maintenance on test and assembly equipment.
• Develop and execute test programs using tools such as Cirris Easy Wire Testers and CableEye.
• Use diagnostic equipment (cable test equipment, oscilloscopes, voltmeter, power supply, etc.) to identify and resolve system failures.
• Provide technical support and training to junior technicians and production staff.
• Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications & Competencies

• BS in Engineering or equivalent experience in technical or manufacturing operations.
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in manufacturing engineering, process development.
• Hands-on experience assembling wire harnesses, cables, and mechanical assemblies.
• Familiarity with wire preparation equipment such as AMP G-Press, Artos, Molex, JST, Schleuniger, Komax is a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PLM systems and work instruction development.
• Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, schematics, wire run list, wire gauge identification, and color codes.
• Skilled in using hand tools including MTA, modular connectors, ferrule crimps, and barrel crimp tools and any other tool related to the wire harness industry.
• Ability to direct and mentor junior technicians.
• IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC-A-610/J-STD-001 certification preferred.
• Soldering experience to IPC standards preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This is a Manufacturing environment requiring some or all of the following:

• Prolonged periods of sitting while performing assembly tasks at a workstation, as well as the ability to stand for prolonged periods during assembly line work
• Repetitive tasks involving hand and wrist motions, such as assembling small parts, using tools and operating machinery.
• Fine motor skills for accurate and efficient assembly. 
• Frequent reaching, grasping or pushing or pulling production materials. 
• Capable of lifting and carrying battery components, tools or assembled units weighing up to 50 lbs. May involve moving or positioning items within the manufacturing area. 
• Standing, bending or kneeling to access equipment, perform on-site assessments, operate machinery, handle delicate components or perform tasks at various heights and angles. 
• Working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels. May involve exposure to battery chemicals or other materials in the assembly process. 
• Required to wear and properly use personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, and lab coats as required by safety protocols.
