Summary

The Career Advisor is responsible for working with Literacy Pittsburgh’s students and partners to provide career advising and services that enable students to achieve their employment, training and post-secondary goals. The position provides career exploration, assessment, and advisement and works with employers, educational institutions and training providers to connect students to opportunities for postsecondary education and work. The Career Advisor works with partners to ensure seamless services delivery to students.  This is a full-time, exempt position. 

Essential Functions

  • Provide career exploration, assessment, counseling, and job placement services to students.
  • Analyze student data to provide proactive outreach to students for various learning and employment opportunities.
  • Work with the program teams to reach out to students to offer career coaching services.
  • Coordinate services with partners to enable students to access their services. 
  • Collect, analyze, and monitor key performance metrics for state and federal compliance, for student learning objectives, and overall program improvement. 
  • Keep accurate case notes and documents student goals and achievements in Salesforce and e-Data
  • Serve on the internal staff team that develops orientation, career pathways and/or bridge coursework to ensure that the intake, orientation, career building, and workplace skills are embedded into the curriculum and connected to other parts of the pipeline.
  • Raise awareness about Literacy Pittsburgh’s value proposition in workforce development among students and potential students and in the workforce ecosystem.
  • Represent Literacy Pittsburgh in workforce development partnership and information sharing settings.
  • Utilize technology to enhance service delivery. 
  • All other duties as assigned.

 Teamwork

  • Participate with internal agency committees and teams, as well as relevant external partnerships. 
  • Follow agency protocols and processes for effective service delivery.
  • Show leadership by offering expertise locally and regionally.

 Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • At least one year’s experience in student advising, career development or counseling.

 Hours

Full-time

 Additional Eligibility Requirements

  • Act 33/34 clearances

 Work Environment 

  • Full-time, some evening work required.
  • This position requires use of personal vehicle for local travel.

 Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Requires the ability to lift, pull and push up to 40 pounds.

Salary : $40,000 - $42,700
