Position Summary: Working under the direction of the Crisis Center Director, the Assistant Director supports both the Crisis Center Director and front line MHTs in effectively delivering services and managing programs for the crisis call center. In addition, the CC Assistant Director supports the Crisis Center Director by contributing to the administration of programs offering tangible support to community members or referring those community members to resources that can provide appropriate support; assists with program data collection; and can fill in for the CC Director in their absence.

Essential Job Functions
- Provides effective responses to callers experiencing various crises, including suicidal ideation, mental health disturbances, drug addiction, homelessness, domestic abuse, as well as other stressors impacting quality of life.
- Assists with interviewing and selection of crisis center staff, including volunteers.
- Assists as appropriate in developing staffing schedules to facilitate Crisis Center coverage.
- Participates in the Crisis Center’s on-call schedule.
- Provides direct service coverage as needed, including responding to crisis calls, text messages, and chat communications consistent with established policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Collects, synthesizes, and reports out Call Center data, as required by the Call Center Director.
- Administers or assists in the administration of direct support initiatives or programs through the Crisis Center.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Significant knowledge and understanding of approved techniques for counseling individuals through emotional crises.
- Ability to develop thorough knowledge of laws and regulations governing mental health services.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations in a controlled manner.
- Work with professionalism, including empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity.
- Organizational skills
- Strong skills utilizing technology, including computer and databases, to provide services and conduct other job-related functions.
- Conviction for the capacity of people to grow and change.
