What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Swim Team Coach position at Lisle Park District?
We are looking for Assistant Swim Team Coaches to join our fun swim team program at Sea Lion Aquatic Park!
The Assistant Swim Team Coach will be responsible for the instruction and safety of participants and staff. This position reports directly to the Head Swim Team Coach and the Recreation Facilities Manager. The Assistant Swim Team Coach will assist with record keeping, proper use of emergency/medical treatments, supervision of participants throughout practices and swim meets, and maintaining communication with parents and participants, and other duties as determined by the Recreation Facilities Manager.
Hours:
Monday-Friday 6:30am-10:30am during the summer season with additional swim meets as scheduled
Major responsibilities include the following. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
- Conducts and supervises all swim team practices, clinics and home swim meets.
- Promotes sportsmanship and the philosophy of the Sea Lion Swim Team as outlined by the Lisle Park District and the West Suburban Conference.
- Responds to emergency situations and performs accordingly.
- Attends all West Suburban Swim Conference meetings with the Head Swim Team Coach, typically scheduled Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Saturday mornings
- Available to lead swim team practices Monday-Friday 6:30am-10:30am for the months of June and July
- Adheres strictly to the West Suburban Conference rules and bylaws.
- Coordinates meet line-ups with the Head Swim Team Coach and maintains accurate records of meet results, individuals’ times and overall team records.
- Provides quality feedback through positive communication to swimmers and parents Displays strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Acts as a representative of the Lisle Park District and as a role model for all water park staff. Actions must reflect policies and procedures set by the Board of Park Commissioners.
Requirements:
- Candidate must be 16 years of age or older.
- Water Safety Instructor certification is preferred.
- Candidate should have at least four years of competitive swimming experience.
- Previous coaching experience preferred.
- Candidate must possess excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Position calls for working in high humidity and varying weather conditions.
- Position requires the ability to lift items up to 50 lbs.
- Position may require the use of chemicals.
- Position requires quick and accurate response to emergencies.
