Summary
The HSE Specialist I is responsible for assisting the HSE Manager in promoting and sustaining a safe work environment in order to avoid and minimize HSE (Health, Safety, Environmental) related problems. These problems include but are not limited to prevention of human injury, environmental degradation and unsafe working conditions/practices. This is done through health, safety, and environmental training, programs, and processes with a visible and uncompromised commitment to the protection of the environment as well as the productivity of the Company’s employees.

Safety
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety audits per LISI audit schedule.
- OSHA and CUPA Compliance: Interact with OSHA and CUPA inspectors and representatives during plant inspections. Provide relevant citation data and photographs to corporate safety personnel. Partner with HSE Manager to determine citations eligible for challenge.
- Near-Miss / Accident Investigations: Lead accident investigations at LISI Aerospace by utilizing Safety Committee members in the accident investigation process. Assess accidents and near misses and perform Root Cause Analyses. Utilize investigation results to ensure a reduction in future accidents.
- Coordinate and facilitate site wide training programs, including planning training sessions, updates, and site specific presentations for the Torrance facility.
- LISI Safety Program Implementation: Coordinate with HSE Manager to roll-out new safety standards. Work with plant staff to implement new LISI Safety Standards at Torrance site.
- Coordinate and facilitate site wide training programs, including planning training sessions, updates, and site specific presentations for the Torrance facility.
- Plant Safety Culture Leadership: Lead plant Safety Committee and promote employee engagement to develop an active and robust safety culture. Schedule and plan monthly Safety Committee meetings.
- HSE Rep Leadership: Coordinate and Monitor on-site HSE Representatives, ensuring proper training and equipment is available.
- Complete requests for information supporting SWPPP, DTSC, TRI and Air Emission Inventory reporting. Coordinate reporting activities with HSE Manager to ensure all reports are completed accurately and on time to state and federal regulatory agencies.
- Compliance and Source Testing: Coordinate plant functions with HSE Manager to plan and implement on-site source testing at LISI Aerospace. Ensure compliance with all internal and external environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Environmental Improvement: Assist in developing and managing action plan to improve environmental performance against state, federal and LISI Aerospace Environmental Standards
- Monitor and track all SWPPP program guidelines to ensure company compliance.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety audits per LISI audit schedule.
- Maintain and monitor compliance calendar to ensure timely regulatory compliance.
- Work in team environment, coordinate and manage multiple projects and assignments, analyze process data, troubleshoot plant operations, and assist in the implementation of solutions.
- Work with the IT Group to troubleshoot and repair computer networks and communication systems.
- Perform “on-call” duties on rotation with the supervisory team.
- Be part of an effective team within the plant that works well with other functions; sales, marketing, finance, human resources, engineering and corporate HSE.

- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
