What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Technician position at LISCIOS ITALIAN BAKERY INC?
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for the maintaining, correcting, dissemination, and organization of the company’s Food Safety Program Documentation (SQF Level 2 Modules 2 and 11), Employee Hazard and Safety Program. This includes testing, disassembling, reassembling, analyzing, verifying, calibrating, validating, typing, reviewing, fabricating, and other duties as needed. It is important that a high level of cleanliness, food safety awareness, and OSHA Compliance is maintained at all times by yourself and your workers.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the SQF Guidance Documents in the Liscio’s Production environment and ensure full compliance by all departments
- Ensures operation of quality and safety systems and equipment by completing pre-operation checklists and inspections. Ensure all identified concerns are addressed within their department structure.
- Create, modify, check, review, and file documentation on behalf of the FSMS to ensure constant regulatory and customer compliance.
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Perform regularly scheduled calibrations and tests, interpret results and document, then react and address as necessary or appropriate.
- Comply with all GMP, SQF, and company polices concerning food safety during investigative procedures.
- Review customer requirements and ensure product meets the intended usage.
- Implement and provide training to employees who are hired within the Liscio’s Bakery organization.
- Periodically review all Retail Stores and the Pastry/Cake Production facilities to ensure they adhere to the Liscio’s Standard of Food Safety and correct when necessary.
- Assist in the creation and finalization of paperwork, documents, signage, or policy in other departments around the company for non-FSMS related objectives.
- Must be willing to perform many other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- At least 2 Years of Food Safety Experience
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent
- Must know and follow standard safety practices
- Must be willing to work flexible and variable schedules and shifts
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Preferred Education and Experience
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Experience with GFSI, OSHA, or GMP Auditing within a production warehouse
- Knowledge of OSHA, USDA, GFSI, GMP, FDA, NJDEP, DOT, and local regulatory requirements
- Degree or Certification in Food Safety-related area
- HACCP Certified
- FSMA-Certified
- Food Defense Certified
- Self-Auditing Training
