Experienced Gardener
Lisa Mantoni Landscape Design is a Brooklyn-based design and build firm with clients throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. Position will be approximately 20-30 hours/week and is seasonal from March to December. Salary commensurate with experience.
Job Qualifications/Requirements
- 1-2 years of professional experience AND/OR formal education in horticulture
- Reliable, punctual and good work ethic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
- Knowledge of plant ID, maintenance requirements and pruning timing/techniques
- Familiarity with common pests/diseases and general knowledge of treatment techniques
- Knowledge of drip irrigation systems is a plus
- Must be detail-oriented – from planting to maintenance to cleanliness on jobsites
- Must have the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently to complete them
- In good physical health with STAMINA and the ability to lift 40-50lbs
- Be fun and personable! We like to laugh while we do back-breaking labor
Job Responsibilities/Duties
- Assist with all aspects of garden installation on rooftops, terraces and backyards
- Perform maintenance visits for clients in Manhattan and Brooklyn; duties include pruning trees and shrubs, deadheading perennials/annuals, transplanting, fertilizing, weeding, pest and disease monitoring/treatment and sweeping all garden areas and surfaces
- Take detailed notes and photos for each job and send daily reports to owner
- Always punctual, professional and conscientious of the fact that you are in someone's home
- Uphold the level of quality clients have come to expect from our company
