Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and experienced Facilities Engineer to join our pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation, maintenance, and optimization of our plant’s infrastructure and equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles, pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, and compliance with industry regulations.
Responsibilities
- Facility Maintenance and Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the facility, ensuring that all systems are functioning correctly and efficiently. Regularly inspect, maintain, and repair equipment and systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration.
- Project Management: Participate in detailed design, construction oversite and qualification of new facility construction and renovations. Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Plan, execute, and manage facility projects, including upgrades, renovations, and expansions.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure the facility complies with all relevant regulations, including FDA, OSHA, and GMP standards. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and regulatory compliance. Prepare and submit reports to management and regulatory bodies as required.
- Quality Systems: Support quality systems investigations related to facility systems and environmental controls.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as Manufacturing Operations, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Process Engineering, to ensure facility operations support the overall goals and objectives of the organization.
- Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiate contracts and ensure the timely delivery of goods and services.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities engineering, preferably within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of engineering software and tools. Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration systems. Experience with CAD software and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) required.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with FDA, OSHA, and GMP regulations and compliance requirements.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage complex projects from initiation to completion, including budget and timeline management.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
Working Conditions
- Standard office hours, with occasional need for evening or weekend work during project implementation or emergency situations.
- Work environment includes both office and manufacturing plant settings.
- Regular travel between local facilities is expected.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, and climb ladders or stairs as needed.
