Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities, helping them lead fulfilling lives while promoting their independence and well-being. You will work closely with individuals in various settings, including in their homes and in the community, ensuring that their needs are met with dignity and respect. Please note; This is a part time position with daily hours ranging from 3.5- 8 hours and a weekly average of 24 hours.
Duties
As a Direct Support Professional, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting individuals with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Implementing individualized care plans tailored to each individual's unique needs and preferences.
- Providing companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for individuals in your care.
- Monitoring individuals’ health and behavior, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Supporting individuals in social activities and community engagement to foster inclusion and personal growth.
- Assisting with household tasks, including cooking and maintaining a clean living environment.
- Collaborating with other professionals such as social workers and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or in related fields such as group home or nursing home settings.
- Knowledge of care plans and the ability to implement them effectively.
- Experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals, families, and team members.
- A background in social work or patient monitoring is a plus but not required.
