Position Overview:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, installation and repairs of wastewater plant’s mechanical equipment including gas and diesel engines, heat exchangers, fans, valves, compressors, storage tanks, pumps of various types, overhead cranes and hoists. The Maintenance Technician plays an integral role in the daily functions of the wastewater cleaning facility.

Position Overview:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, installation and repairs of wastewater plant’s mechanical equipment including gas and diesel engines, heat exchangers, fans, valves, compressors, storage tanks, pumps of various types, overhead cranes and hoists. The Maintenance Technician plays an integral role in the daily functions of the wastewater cleaning facility.
Essential Functions
- Operates and maintains equipment such as grinders, lathes, drill presses, pipe threading and welding machines, band saws, electrical testing equipment and other associated shop equipment.
- Performs metal fabrication such as ironwork, sheet metal, burning and welding.
- Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment.
- Operates and maintains vehicle in accordance with company procedures and policies.
- Operates heavy equipment including forklift trucks, boom trucks, mini excavator.
- Performs minor electrical maintenance functions.
- Cleans and maintains process equipment.
- Provides training and leadership in working with team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Able to work independently without supervision
- Good knowledge of equipment, machinery, and processes
- Ability to troubleshoot pump issues
- Good knowledge of the tools, equipment and terminology used in the installation, rebuilding and maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment systems
- Ability to install, rebuild and make skilled repairs to equipment and machinery relative to a wastewater treatment plant
- Skill in the operation repair of pumps, valves and related mechanical and electrical equipment
- Very strong mechanical aptitude, reliability and multitasking are a must
- Able to follow written and verbal instruction and can stay on task while working alone
- Ability to communicate with others for safety and efficiency requirements
- Pre-Hire Requirements (Must Meet to Be Considered):
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License (held for at least 1 years)
- Clean driving record (2 violations or less over past 5 years preferred)
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Ability to work overnight or early morning shifts
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Ability to lift 55 lbs and work at heights (rooftops, ladders, catwalks)
Education And Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent (Required)
- Five (5 ) plus years as a journeyman working in the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of process equipment. The type used in a wastewater treatment facility
- Schedule variations required to meet customer demands
- Varied weather working in hot, cold, and wet conditions
- Traffic stress
- Strong odors and smells
