Liquid Church
Mountainside, NJ Full Time
POSTED ON 3/24/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/24/2026

Big Win: A servant leader who develops leaders who nurture the spiritual growth of children in partnership with their parents.

The Family & Special Needs Coordinator plays a key role in building a thriving, Christ-centered ministry for kids and families at Liquid Church by leading volunteer teams, coordinating systems, and partnering with parents. This full-time position serves under the Campus Pastor as part of the Campus Team, with dotted line oversight from the Family Pastor.  The schedule includes Sunday services and a minimum of two in-person office days, which include Tuesday and Thursday meetings at our central office in Parsippany, totaling 40 hours.

Ministry Strategy & Execution

  • Lead the implementation of children’s ministry experiences by ensuring volunteer teams, spaces, and systems are fully prepared each weekend.

  • Own the weekly “Sunday readiness” plan: setup/teardown coordination, room readiness, supplies, curriculum distribution, check-in flow, and communication.

  • Ensure volunteers are trained, scheduled, supported, and aligned to deliver programming with excellence and consistency.

  • Monitor weekend execution, identify gaps, and drive continuous improvement through feedback loops with coaches and key volunteers.

Special Needs Ministry

  • Serve as the primary campus contact for special needs inclusion, ensuring families feel supported and welcomed.

  • Oversee the Buddy Program: connect with new families, coordinate buddy matches, train buddies, and provide ongoing coaching and resources.

  • Champion a culture where every child is welcomed, known, and valued—equipping volunteers to serve with empathy, clarity, and confidence.

Volunteer & Leadership Development

  • Build, maintain, and lead a strong volunteer team committed to loving and discipling kids.

  • Develop and lead Team Coaches and key volunteers to expand leadership capacity and reduce dependency on staff.

  • Recruit - Identify, engage, and onboard new volunteers through intentional conversations, interest forms, and training processes.

  • Retain: Foster a vibrant volunteer community by maintaining regular communication through email, text, huddles, and team meetings; providing spiritual care, encouragement, and support; meeting with Team Coaches; maintaining and communicating the schedule; and offering ongoing training and development.

  • Reward - Celebrate and appreciate volunteers regularly to affirm their contribution and sustain engagement.

Parent and Family Partnerships

  • Serve as a primary campus point of contact for parents—especially new families—helping them navigate check-in, classrooms, safety policies, and next steps.

  • Communicate clearly and proactively with parents to build trust, set expectations, and support family discipleship at home.

  • Support families through key milestones (baptisms, child dedications, and other faith steps). When additional needs arise, provide guidance and connect families to pastoral care and other resources.

Qualifications

  • Education - Bachelor’s Degree required

  • Experience - 2 years of serving at Liquid Family preferred; Minimum 1 year of service at Liquid or another church required, special needs experience preferred.

  • Leadership - Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to the dynamic needs of ministry.
