They work closely with civil engineers, architects, and surveyors to convert design concepts into accurate construction documents using CAD software.
Responsibilities
- Create and revise civil engineering drawings and plans
- Prepare site layouts, grading plans, utility plans, and roadway drawings
- Use CAD software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and survey data
- Ensure drawings comply with local codes, standards, and regulations
- Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, and project managers
- Maintain drawing files and project documentation
- Assist with quantity calculations and material takeoffs
- Review drawings for accuracy and completeness
- Update plans based on engineering changes or field conditions
Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical diploma in Drafting, CAD Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field
- Relevant certifications are a plus (Autodesk Certified Professional, etc.)
- 1–3 years of drafting experience preferred for mid-level positions
Required Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D
- Understanding of civil engineering principles and construction methods
- Ability to read blueprints and technical documents
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Basic knowledge of surveying and mapping
- Time management and organizational skills
Preferred Skills
- 1–3 years of drafting experience preferred for mid-level positions
