What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Coach - Women's Basketball, University Athletics position at Lipscomb University?
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coaching: assist with preparing student-athletes for competition, by providing skill development and instruction in individual settings, group workouts, team workouts, practices and competition
- Recruiting: assists with signing qualified student-athletes who fit the mission and vision of the university and help improve the women’s basketball program by identifying, evaluating and building relationships with prospects and coaches across the country
- Travel: coordinates all aspects of team travel and staff travel for recruiting and professional development
- Scheduling: maintains team schedules and facility schedules for women’s basketball, using appropriate software and working with other members of athletic department
- Budgeting: maintains real-time budget expenditure documents for travel and recruiting and performs expense reporting for women’s basketball program
- Supervision: Supervise, where applicable, graduate managers and managers. Should be able to lead in a way that exhibits Christian character, promotes teamwork, and encourages a positive, efficient work environment
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in coaching collegiate basketball and/or high school basketball
- Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with Synergy Sports, Sports Code, Fastdraw, Teamworks and ARI software
- Must be self-motivated with attention to detail and accuracy
- Lots of nights and overnight travel throughout the year
Preferences:
- Experience at Lipscomb University or like institutions
- Three (3) years of experience in coaching collegiate basketball and/or high school basketball
- Master’s Degree in Sports Administration, Coaching, Education or a Behavioral Science
- Enthusiastic: Shows intense and eager enjoyment and interest
