Summary:

Ensure the facility meets conformance with all Corporate, State, and Federal Environmental Health and Safety Standards. Drive a continuous culture of safety excellence through organization, leadership, and communication to employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Comply with all Liphatech safety policies and procedures. In addition, comply with 5S program on a daily basis.

Demonstrate exemplary safety leadership behavior. Follow regulatory practices and rules, recognize and promote hazard reporting and ensure effective safety reporting.

Create, maintain and manage a compliance schedule with all Liphatech safety programs and procedures.

Develop and maintain procedures to assist in the prevention of workplace injuries.

Research industry safety compliance ensuring Liphatech’s adherence to these standards.

Act as an information conduit to bring safety issues to the attention of management and to deliver safety information to the organization’s staff, contractors, and stakeholders.

Conduct training and provide information regarding OSHA’s required safety programs within the organization.

Maintain accurate, complete and current safety files, logs and records.

Responsible for the preparation and updates of the Liphatech Emergency Action Plan and Fire Prevention Plan.

Responsible for working with external bodies such as local authorities on health and safety issues.

Perform and document routine safety drills.

Manage the housekeeping program and keep it up to date for successful execution. Report results to Management.

Monitor company’s compliance regarding safety policies and procedures and formally advise Management on areas of non-conformances.

Conduct, document and post plant safety and housekeeping audits.

Identify opportunities for continuous safety improvement and assist in their implementation.

Conduct risk assessments and enforce prevention measures.

Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant health & safety legislation and best practices.

Develop and maintain written reports regarding the condition of the building’s exterior and interior. (i.e. landscaping, parking lot, etc.) as they relate to safety issues.

Lead a cross-functional safety committee on an ongoing basis.

Represent Safety in daily shift change meetings.

Ensure that all accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in a timely manner.

Report required information to State and Federal Regulatory Agencies (example SARA 22-313).

Manage Hazardous Waste Program.

Create an organizational culture that fosters safety and quality practices through effective leadership.

Maintain SDS’s to ensure they are up to date based on current vendor purchases.

Marginal Duties:

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent.

Five (5) years of experience running a Safety Program in a manufacturing environment (Chemical manufacturing preferred)

Must be able to demonstrate good ability to lead and follow an effective training session successfully.

Completion of OSHA 30 training class or similar safety certifications

Proficient in MS Office, Visio, and MS project required

Protective Clothing/Equipment Requirements:

Requires use of safety glasses and safety shoes.

Ability to wear full-face respirator and adhere to Respirator Policy.

Must use other protective clothing/equipment as required by specific tasks.

Lock-out/Tag-out

Respirator Training

Safe Lifting

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, employee policies and procedures, handbook, and benefit information. Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondences. Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

Reasoning Skills:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Other Skills and Abilies:

Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and keyboard, calculator, Fax, photocopier, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to communicate with individuals and groups. The employee frequently is required to complete simple grasping and fine manipulation as well as occasional power grasping. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and reach above the shoulders. The employee is occasionally required move weights up to thirty five (35) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
