Position Purpose

The Senior Director of Donation Services is responsible for providing focused leadership, coordination, and performance oversight for Donor Referral Services, Recovery Services and Organizational Data & Analytics through the Performance Optimization Team. This position supports the execution of donation focused operations by ensuring optimal performance management, mission driven outcomes, effective staffing, workflow consistency, timely donor referral response, high-quality recovery practices, and data-informed decision-making.

The Senior Director works closely with the Chief Operating Officer and cross-functional leaders to support operational goals, improve clinical performance, strengthen accountability, and ensure alignment with LWVI policies and procedures, applicable regulatory standards, and organizational priorities. This role is responsible for the effective daily and strategic management of assigned clinical operational areas, including contract management.


The Senior Director is expected to serve as a visible leader who models LWVI's Leadership Commitments, promotes a positive and engaged workplace culture, and champions collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across assigned departments.


Schedule and Travel

  • Regular office hours are generally Monday through Friday, with flexibility required to support operations across applicable service hours and geographic areas.
  • Availability during evenings, weekends, or holidays may be required based on operational needs.
  • Intermittent travel to satellite offices, partner locations, or industry meetings may be required.


Essentials Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for Recovery Services, Donor Referral Services, and the Performance Optimization Team, ensuring alignment with LWVI's mission, vision, and values.
  • Direct daily clinical operations by ensuring effective staffing, scheduling, workflow execution, and high-quality donor referral and recovery processes.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with LWVI policies, EBAA, AATB, FDA Good Tissue Practices, and other applicable standards while maintaining quality assurance and accurate documentation.
  • Monitor operational performance using data, dashboards, and key performance indicators to identify trends, improve efficiency, and recommend process improvements.
  • Develop and lead managers and staff through coaching, feedback, accountability, leadership development, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to support seamless coordination across the donation, recovery, quality, and distribution continuum.
  • Oversee performance optimization initiatives, including operational reporting, EMR access, analytics, and projects that enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Support strategic and financial planning by assisting with departmental budgets, operational planning, goal setting, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain strong partner relationships with tissue and recovery agencies while representing clinical operations in organizational and external meetings as appropriate.
  • Foster a mission-focused, collaborative culture by modeling LWVI leadership commitments, promoting accountability, psychological safety, continuous improvement, and recognition of employee contributions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, biological sciences, nursing, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare, organ/tissue/eye donation, clinical operations, recovery services, donor referral services, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred.
  • Experience with performance management, operational reporting, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration required.
  • Experience using data and analytics to monitor performance and support operational decision-making is strongly preferred.
  • Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (CTBS) or Certified Eye Bank Specialist (CEBT) preferred or expected within an established timeframe after hire.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and related reporting or dashboard tools.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to guide operational teams in a manner consistent with LWVI’s culture, mission, and leadership expectations.
  • Strong understanding of donor referral, recovery services, case coordination, clinical workflows, and donation-related operations.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulatory standards, including FDA Good Tissue Practices, EBAA Medical Standards, AATB Standards, and relevant LWVI policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret operational data, identify trends, evaluate performance, and recommend practical improvements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-support skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate competing operational needs, and follow through on deliverables.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with frontline staff, managers, senior leaders, and external partners.
  • Ability to coach, develop, and hold team members accountable in a professional and constructive manner.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments while maintaining ownership of assigned operational areas.
  • Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, transparency, and respect.
  • Ability to model organizational values and leadership commitments and effectively translate them into departmental behaviors, expectations, and performance standards.
  • Strong employee engagement, coaching, and team development skills with a commitment to creating a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Must read and write English.


Salary : $140,000 - $180,000
