Maintenance Tech, PRN

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician performs maintenance service or repairs in the following areas: plumbing, carpentry, painting and plastering, machine servicing, electrical repairs, and HVAC.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and 1-2 years of hands-on maintenance, mechanical, and/or trade experience including, but not limited to, HVAC, plumbing, and maintenance. Candidates must have the physical stamina to perform the duties of this position (lifting, standing, bending, etc.) and must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required.

Schedule - Varies

Hours: 7am-3:30pm

Responsibilities

• Performs basic preventative and remedial maintenance functions including, but not limited to, plumbing, carpentry, painting and plastering, machine servicing, electrical repairs, and HVAC
• Performs daily, weekly, monthly audits; documents on designated preventive maintenance form including information required on form with date and signature as per SDOH regulations, and returns audits to assigned manager/supervisor
• Performs general landscaping/grounds-keeping duties, such as raking, trimming, weeding, cultivating, and snow removal
• Maintains friendly, efficient Service Excellence attitude towards customers, co-workers, and clients
• Performs emergency maintenance repairs as necessary
• Performs project work as assigned
• Removes snow from sidewalks, courtyards, public areas, etc., as required for safety
• Inspects, cleans, and lubricates equipment parts and machinery
• Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose problems
• Works with little supervision and selects from a variety of established procedures to accomplish assigned task
• Keeps maintenance room neat, clean, and orderly and keeps order of personal tools
• Follows all safety policies and procedures
• Completes any reports or logs
• As requested, assists with estimates of time and material costs for various projects
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred
• Able to read, understand, and speak basic English instructions
• Safety and customer service oriented
• Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
• Able to work in all kinds of weather
• Able to work a flexible schedule, which may include working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
