Job Summary
We are seeking a Process Engineer to lead process development, new product introduction (NPI), and continuous improvement initiatives for a well-established advanced manufacturing and photonics company in the Clarksburg, WV area. They will drive product and process optimizations, utilize modern project management tools, and support advanced glass fabrication operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage engineering projects related to the implementation of new products, tooling, and advanced manufacturing processes.
- Plan project activities, set timelines, define resource allocations, and manage constraints using Gantt charts and tracking tools.
- Maintain clear, ongoing communication regarding project milestones, technical obstacles, and delivery deadlines with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify, root-cause, and resolve complex manufacturing, equipment, and product defects using sound engineering methodologies.
- Analyze existing production lines to recommend and execute data-driven corrective actions, process optimizations, and yield improvements.
- Engage directly with customers and suppliers to gather technical requirements, align specifications, and overcome project obstacles.
- Provide daily technical floor support to manufacturing teams to maintain stable processing and minimize downtime.
- Optimize glass manufacturing processes, including precision cutting, seaming, machining, and screen-printing operations.
- Develop, update, and maintain detailed process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality specification sheets.
- Partner with Quality, R&D, and Operations departments to ensure seamless handoffs during production scaling.
- Balance multiple concurrent engineering projects while adapting to evolving client specifications and technical requirements.
- Travel occasionally as needed to support vendor reviews, customer site integration, or industry training.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5 years of engineering experience in a mechanical, process, or manufacturing environment (Entry-level candidates with strong project management skills may also be considered).
- Proven track record in process troubleshooting, continuous improvement methodologies, or new product implementation (NPI).
- Hands-on experience utilizing project planning tools (Gantt charts, resource scheduling, constraint management).
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to work with technical data, complex measurements, documentation, and small components.
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialized experience in glass cutting, seaming, CNC machining, or industrial screen printing.
- Prior experience within photonics, optical component processing, or high-precision manufacturing.
