About the role: 
The STEP Facilitator collaborates closely with Juvenile Court Services to supervise at risk youth in the community, promoting successful outcomes and positive behavioral changes. This position engages youth and families through face-to-face interaction, behavior modification, and resource coordination to support Juvenile Court Services’ efforts to reduce recidivism by equipping the Youth and family with structured skills related to identified needs, attaining prosocial Youth Centered Goals, and connecting the Youth and family to long term community resources and support.
  • Meets regularly with youth and families to provide direct support, supervision and behavioral modification.
  • Coordinates and leads meetings with Juvenile Court Officers (JCO’s), youth, and families to develop crisis response strategies and promote youth-driven goal setting.
  • Creates individualized crisis plans and youth-centered goals in collaboration with clients and support teams.
  • Coordinates level progression reviews and promote client self-advocacy to support successful treatment outcomes.
  • Encourages prosocial decision making and long-term goal setting through cognitive restructuring sessions, coaching, role playing and positive reinforcement.
  • Facilitates skill-building sessions using structured curriculum focused on life skills development, emotional regulation, coping techniques, and communication.
  • Cultivates collaborative relationships with referring workers by holding weekly office hours and providing regular updates through calls, emails, and documentation.
  • Assists youth in accessing and navigating education, employment, community service and treatment resources.
  • Connects youth and families to community resources.
  • Provides transportation to school, counseling sessions, community services, residential treatment placements and other essential appointments.
  • Investigates client’s whereabouts as needed and uses electronic monitoring system to track or validate locations.
  • Collecting urine samples to ensure client compliance.
  • Completes timely and accurate documentation of all client meetings, services provided and weekly progress reports.
  • Attends staff meetings, individual supervision, and training to improve practice and alignment with departmental goals.
  • Associates degree in the social sciences or a related field required.  
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience working with delinquent adolescents in the juvenile justice system and/or their families. 
Wednesday - Saturday 
9 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. 
(Sunday - Tuesday off)
