Position SummaryThe Utility Laborer is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of job sites and equipment. This position reports to and follows instructions from the foreman and superintendent about the assigned work areas. Duties and Responsibilities· Use hand tools to dig around existing utility structures to prevent damage· Load and unload equipment and materials· Keep worksite clean, organized and free from unnecessary hazards· Perform regular maintenance and cleaning on assigned vehicles and equipment· Operating a variety of tools and machines such as blowtorches, jackhammers, levels, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, pressure washers, and water spraying equipment· Caring for tools used on construction sites and keeping them in safe and clean working order· Safely operating equipment and vehicles if needed· Understanding and carrying out instructions· Maintaining positive working relationships· Perform other responsibilities as requested by leadershipPosition Requirements· 0 to 2 years of experience· Dependability and reliability with excellent attendance record.· Ability to work overtime as needed.Ability to follow direction and work within parameters established by Management and Supervision.Good safety history and a willingness to engage and contribute to ongoing safe work practicesAbility to effectively communicate with supervisors, team members, and client representativesPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit, stand, and ride in vehicles for long periods of timeAbility to push/pull/manipulate hand tools up to 54 ft./lbs. (force)Ability to lift/load 55 lbs. and carry 150 ft.Ability to squat and kneel.Ability to climb into and out of equipmentAbility to reach above head and 6-inches with fine gross motor skill.Ability to operate various sized fire extinguishers, in training or emergency situations.Ability to dig/shovel various soils while performing daily duties.Work Environment:Outside work exposed to variant weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow) and muddy ground conditions.
