| POSITION SUMMARY |
|
At elementary level, implement a Suzuki strings program adapted for the public school setting in three elementary schools.
|
| ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS |
- This position is for three elementary school assignments.
- Provide Suzuki-based group class strings instruction, primarily violin, adapted for the public school setting to K-5 elementary students.
- At the elementary school, work with the school's administrator and classroom teachers to develop a class schedule that provides two thirty-minute group strings lessons per week.
- Work with parents so that they can assist their children in practice at home.
- Participate in all city-wide string events, and provide performance opportunities in the school and community.
- Oversee both the use and care of division-owned instruments.
- Use effective instructional and classroom management practices.
- Contribute positively and constructively to the LCS Strings Professional Learning Community.

| EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
- Possess or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in instrumental music, Prek-12.
- Bachelors/Masters Degree in music or music education with emphasis in instrumental music.
- Suzuki teacher training and SAA membership is strongly encouraged.
- Experience teaching beginner techniques in all strings instruments is preferred.
