Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / Manual Machinist to join a growing machine shop serving a variety of industrial sectors. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining manual lathes and milling machines while producing high-quality precision components from engineering drawings and blueprints. Candidates with CNC programming knowledge are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Operate manual lathes and milling machines to manufacture precision components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and samples.
- Take accurate measurements to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Select appropriate tooling, machine settings, and machining methods for each job.
- Plan the sequence of operations to maximize efficiency and quality.
- Monitor machining operations and make necessary adjustments to feeds, speeds, and machine settings.
- Inspect finished parts to verify quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Assist with additional shop duties and support team production goals.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating manual lathes and milling machines in a machine shop environment.
- CNC programming knowledge is required.
- Experience with ProtoTrak controls is a plus but not required; training will be provided.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Solid math skills.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive physical tasks.
