Overview
We are seeking a skilled HVAC Maintenance Technician to join our team, responsible for maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related mechanical systems across commercial and industrial properties. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in HVAC/R systems, plumbing, and equipment repair, with the ability to interpret schematics and HVAC design plans. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a mechanical or field service technician with experience in property maintenance and appliance repair to contribute their expertise in a dynamic environment. A valid driver's license is required for travel between job sites.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration systems (including ammonia refrigeration), and other mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot issues using schematics, HVAC design documents, and diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters.
- Conduct equipment repairs involving welding, plumbing, refrigeration, and electrical components.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and implement effective solutions to ensure optimal system performance.
- Assist with installation of new HVAC equipment and system upgrades following safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to facilitate accurate repairs and installations.
- Maintain detailed service records and reports of work performed for compliance and future reference.
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations including proper handling of refrigerants like ammonia and adherence to environmental standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an HVAC service technician or in a similar property maintenance role with knowledge of HVAC/R systems.
- Strong mechanical knowledge including equipment repair, boiler operation, plumbing, welding, and appliance repair.
- Familiarity with HVAC design principles, schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting tools such as ohmmeters.
- Experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems is preferred.
- Ability to read technical manuals and blueprints accurately.
- Construction or field service experience is advantageous.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required for travel between sites.
- Additional skills such as experience with refrigeration (including ammonia), boiler operation, welding techniques, or mechanic experience are highly desirable.
