JOB DESCRIPTION

The Electrical Apprentice supports the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment across Linkan’s project sites and client facilities. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician, this role provides hands-on experience in industrial and mining environments, emphasizing safety, technical skill development, and adherence to applicable electrical codes and company standards.

The Electrical Apprentice plays an essential role in ensuring reliable operations, learning the trade through practical application, and contributing to the safe and efficient execution of electrical work within Linkan’s projects.

Essential duties include:

  • Assist in the installation, inspection, testing, and repair of electrical systems and components in compliance with state, federal, and mining safety regulations.
  • Support preventative maintenance tasks, including equipment checks, cleaning, and minor repairs under supervision.
  • Help troubleshoot electrical issues by gathering information, preparing tools and materials, and assisting senior electricians in diagnostics and repairs.
  • Follow all safety protocols and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to maintain a hazard-free work environment.
  • Participate in daily tailgate meetings and follow direction from supervisors to coordinate tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Learn to interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to understand layout and design.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, vehicles, and tools.
  • Assist with documentation of maintenance activities, including inspection reports and work logs.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are properly stored and maintained.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and completion of the formal apprenticeship program.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Specific skills and experience are as follows:

  • Enrollment in or completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship program required.
  • Must meet the requirements for electrical apprenticeship registration or equivalent as defined by state regulations.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or coursework in electrical systems preferred.
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles, wiring methods, and safety practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn under supervision.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently on assigned tasks, and contribute effectively to a team environment.
  •  Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed. 
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, and work in confined spaces or elevated areas as required by the job.
  •  Must be capable of working in various environmental conditions, including exposure to weather, noise, dust, and industrial hazards common to mining and construction environments.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required, including safety glasses, hard hats, gloves, and hearing protection.
