Linkage Design is seeking a Color & Materials Design (CMD) Support Specialist to assist a global automotive design organization with digital materials, visualization, and studio operations.
This position will support the Color & Materials Design team with strategic planning, research, and the development of next-generation digital workflows — ensuring color, finish, and material accuracy across both physical and digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
1. Research, Development & Planning
- Assist CMD leadership in improving digital material and visualization workflows.
- Conduct research on new materials, technologies, and color accuracy tools.
- Support color calibration, scanning, and verification of physical-to-digital materials.
- Help establish standards and training for improved design efficiency.
2. Design Program Support
- Develop digital configurations, visualization stills, and animations.
- Manage project data and coordinate deliverables across multiple design teams.
- Provide visualization and digital material support for active design programs.
3. Project Coordination & Reporting
- Manage and track progress using project tools (e.g., Miro, spreadsheets).
- Communicate milestones, issues, and deliverables to studio leadership.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely execution.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proficiency in Autodesk VRED, Substance, and other visualization software.
- Understanding of digital color workflows and physical-to-digital material correlation.
- Knowledge of material creation, color calibration, and visualization presentation.
- Excellent communication and organization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Design, Industrial Design, Color Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
Preferred Skills
- Experience in automotive or transportation design environments.
- Familiarity with AI, MR/AR/VR, Twinmotion, Adobe CC, Teamcenter, or X-Rite tools.
- Strategic mindset with an interest in training, mentoring, and continuous improvement.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: From $35.00 per hour
