This dynamic role is ideal for a self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, adapting to evolving mission requirements, and independently driving tasks to completion while supporting critical operational needs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security, proactively identifying and resolving issues to maintain operational readiness.
  • Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Linux operating systems, applications, and supporting services in accordance with security and compliance requirements.
  • Perform system hardening in accordance with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and other cybersecurity mandates.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, authentication services, and access controls across enterprise Linux environments.
  • Configure and maintain enterprise services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, LDAP, SSH, web services, and file-sharing solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system, application, network, and performance-related issues across multiple environments.
  • Support vulnerability remediation efforts by analyzing security scan results and implementing corrective actions.

  • Perform system backups, disaster recovery activities, and continuity-of-operations support to ensure mission resilience.
  • Support virtualization and cloud-based infrastructure technologies, including VMware, Red Hat Virtualization, or similar platforms.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, networking, and engineering teams to implement system enhancements and resolve operational issues.
  • Maintain compliance with DoD, Army, and organizational policies, procedures, and security requirements.
  • Support infrastructure modernization initiatives by evaluating, testing, and implementing new technologies and system improvements.
  • Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and after-action reporting for system disruptions and security events.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior administrators and support personnel when needed.

Please note that this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant IT experience with direct hands-on administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and/or derivative distributions (Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, CentOS).
  • Demonstrated experience writing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Bash scripts for systems administration and automation.
  • Experience installing, configuring, patching, and maintaining Linux operating systems and enterprise services.
  • Experience troubleshooting Linux operating systems, applications, and system performance issues in enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with Linux user account management, permissions, file systems, process management, and system logging.
  • Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, self-start tasks, and adapt to rapidly changing mission requirements.
  • Strong technical writing skills with demonstrated experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, procedures, and system diagrams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Army, or other federal government environments.
