Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled Set Up Machinist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and maintaining precision machines (CNC and manual), ensuring the production of high-quality components according to specifications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in machining processes and will be able to troubleshoot, calibrate, and optimize machinery for optimal performance.Key Responsibilities:Set up and operate CNC and manual machines, including lathes, mills, and grinders, according to engineering drawings and job specifications.Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure proper setup and machining.Adjust machine settings, tools, and fixtures to achieve desired specifications and tolerances.Inspect and measure finished parts to ensure quality standards are met using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication to ensure proper functioning.Troubleshoot and resolve machine setup issues, including diagnosing mechanical problems and making adjustments as needed.Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following safety protocols and keeping work areas organized.Work closely with supervisors and team members to optimize production and reduce downtime.Assist in training and mentoring junior machinists and apprentices when necessary.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent (Technical certification or vocational training in machining preferred).Proven experience as a machinist, with expertise in setting up and operating CNC and manual machines.Strong understanding of machining processes, tool selections, and setup techniques.Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.Familiarity with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.).Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in a manufacturing environment.Ability to lift and move heavy objects (typically 25-50 lbs).Preferred Skills:Experience with advanced CNC machinery and programming.Knowledge of machine calibration and offset adjustments.Familiarity with CAD/CAM software.Experience with machining complex parts or custom orders.Benefits:Competitive salary based on experience.Health, dental, and vision insurance.Paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick leave).Retirement plan options.Opportunities for advancement and skill development.
