Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Education or Social Work.
Students at Link Learning come to us at-risk of dropping out of school or having already dropped out of school. We are an alternative education program that is provided in a virtual way. Our drop in Centers allow for additional support as well.
Our Comprehensive Needs assessment clearly shows students are at risk of dropping out due to behavior issues such as lack of motivation, lack of time management and goal setting skills, and other social emotional issues that are surfacing due to family and environmental concerns and conditions.
The addition of behavioral coaches will support learning and increase performance as it will work at eliminating the barriers that are getting in the way of learning. These positions will focus on the 5 psychological needs of at-risk students so they can be competent, feel useful, increase self potency, have a better sense of belonging, and increase hope. The job duties defined below are how additional support will be offered to identified students.
Student Criteria into the program:
Students that have been assigned 12 courses to complete but have completed less than 2 courses or less than 20% progress.
Job Description: The following job description is for the assigned caseloads only. This is a Title I like program paid for out of at-risk dollars and will be subject to review every year. The location of services may change yearly.
- Assist students with school, life coaching, career and college planning
- Discuss career opportunities and development with students
- Create Individualized/personalized learning plan to eliminate barriers to finishing classes
- Plan field trips to explore potential future opportunities as identified in the EDP (job, college, interest areas, etc.)
- Utilize the EDP to guide career/college planning, celebrate student success, and implement appropriate motivation, time management, goal setting, and SEL strategies
- Help students navigate the steps to take between where they are and where they want to be after they graduate
- Assist students with time management and organization both in and out of school
- Make home visits to provide individual family/student support and planning
- Guide students on self-regulation and how to interact with others to set themselves up for success
- Connect students to community services and other support services to eliminate barriers
- Obtain resources for students throughout the year to set them up for success and eliminate barriers
- Engage parents/family and involve them in the process of supporting the student
- Guide all wrap around services and team to support students on their caseload
- Help students explore future plans based on their strengths and map out a path
- Implement engagement strategies
- Incentivize success for students
- Track at-risk qualifiers and support in areas identified
- Complete Functional Behavioral Assessments
- Regularly assess student growth and evaluate effectiveness
- Complete a daily log per title I guidelines
