In this role, the architect will serve as a senior technical voice and the organization's counterweight to implementation vendors by managing vendor performance, enforcing platform standards, and ensuring all architectural decisions serve the organization's long-term interests.
Job Duties
- Direct the development and implementation of Salesforce architecture frameworks, policies, and standards while ensuring solutions align with organizational strategic goals.
- Evaluate and approve Salesforce delivery plans to ensure alignment with enterprise objectives and technical soundness.
- Provide feedback on architecture and technical design across Salesforce platforms, including Public Sector Solutions (License, Permits, Inspections module, Grants Management module) and Experience Cloud.
- Oversee the seamless and secure integration of Salesforce with other systems and applications, including SAP, ERP, middleware, and external APIs, while guiding pattern development.
- Direct the design and management of Salesforce data models, security protocols, and user roles.
- Review technical deliverables to ensure they meet established standards, development and configuration best practices, and security requirements.
- Work to minimize architectural drift across projects and platform enhancements.
- Assess and make recommendations regarding new Salesforce features, licenses, solutions, and third-party applications to enhance system functionality.
- Oversee and participate in reviews of Salesforce system performance to identify areas for optimization and efficiency.
- Lead efforts to document and maintain technical assets, workflows, architecture decision records (ADRs), system architecture diagrams, and integration documentation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify process improvement opportunities and oversee the resolution of technical issues to minimize business disruption.
- Explore the integration of AI tooling into solution design where appropriate and perform other related work as required.
- Seven (7) years of professional IT experience, including three (3) years in a Salesforce architecture role, or an equivalent combination of training and senior architecture experience.
- Deep knowledge of the Salesforce platform, including its data and security models, architecture and integration patterns, customization opportunities, platform limitations, Apex, Flows, and SOQL.
- Proficiency in IT governance frameworks, enterprise-level service delivery, strategic planning, and system optimization principles.
- Ability to ensure platform compliance with security standards and data privacy requirements.
- Expertise in evaluating and implementing new Salesforce features and solutions, as well as applying business process analysis to configurations.
- Understanding of web service protocols and data interchange formats (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML) and their application in enterprise integration patterns.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to facilitate complex technical discussions with diverse stakeholders, foster collaboration, and lead solution architects, administrators, and developers.
- Experience with agile delivery concepts and the ability to align Salesforce solutions with organizational goals and priorities.
- Relevant Salesforce credentials and professional certifications are a plus.
- Preferred Skillsets: Experience navigating government IT delivery constraints (procurement, compliance, privacy, multi-tiered governance), working in a multi-vendor delivery environment, and familiarity with AWS services (API Gateway, Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, Glue, Athena, etc.) as they relate to Salesforce integration.
