Classification: Full-Time Hourly, Non-Exempt
DEFINITION
Campus Services will perform a wide variety of functions related to the general maintenance and cleaning in order to provide a clean, orderly and safe environment; and perform related work as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs a variety of general building maintenance duties including but not limited to general semi-skilled electrical, plumbing, painting and carpentry work
- Lifts, stacks and moves heavy furniture, equipment and materials
- Grounds keeping duties may be required
- Responds to service requests and coordinates resources
- Implements the set up and take down of furniture and equipment for a wide variety of campus and school events
- Performs various maintenance and custodial duties such as installation and repair to fixtures in restrooms, labs and classrooms
- Reports and responds to emergency calls for custodial assistance
- Schedules, coordinates, direct and perform routine and comprehensive maintenance
- Operates power equipment such as pressure washer, hand and power tools and campus vehicles
- Removes trash in accordance with established procedures
- Troubleshoots and repairs minor plumbing and electrical problems; replaces a variety of light bulbs and lighting accessories
- Maintains inventory and submits written requests for supplies; tests and evaluates new supplies and equipment
- Other duties as assigned
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE OF
- Basic tools employed in building maintenance and custodial work
- Knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and construction practices
- Proper use of a wide range of chemicals according to state and federal regulations
- Handling and disposing of hazardous materials and blood borne pathogens with care
ABILITY TO
- Work with pesticides
- Safely dispose of hazardous materials
- Identify stains and use proper chemicals for their removal
- Operate manual and power equipment
- Work effectively in and around the public
- Perform physical labor
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Maintain cooperative working relationships
EDUCATION
- High School diploma or GED
- One year of general maintenance experience
- Custodial and building maintenance in a school setting preferred
- Background in construction trades preferred
