 DEFINITION

Campus Services will perform a wide variety of functions related to the general maintenance and cleaning in order to provide a clean, orderly and safe environment; and perform related work as required. 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs a variety of general building maintenance duties including but not limited to general semi-skilled electrical, plumbing, painting and carpentry work
• Lifts, stacks and moves heavy furniture, equipment and materials
• Grounds keeping duties may be required
• Responds to service requests and coordinates resources
• Implements the set up and take down of furniture and equipment for a wide variety of campus and school events
• Performs various maintenance and custodial duties such as installation and repair to fixtures in restrooms, labs and classrooms
• Reports and responds to emergency calls for custodial assistance
• Schedules, coordinates, direct and perform routine and comprehensive maintenance
• Operates power equipment such as pressure washer, hand and power tools and campus vehicles
• Removes trash in accordance with established procedures
• Troubleshoots and repairs minor plumbing and electrical problems; replaces a variety of light bulbs and lighting accessories
• Maintains inventory and submits written requests for supplies; tests and evaluates new supplies and equipment
• Other duties as assigned

 EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

 KNOWLEDGE OF

• Basic tools employed in building maintenance and custodial work
• Knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and construction practices
• Proper use of a wide range of chemicals according to state and federal regulations
• Handling and disposing of hazardous materials and blood borne pathogens with care

 ABILITY TO

• Work with pesticides
• Safely dispose of hazardous materials
• Identify stains and use proper chemicals for their removal
• Operate manual and power equipment
• Work effectively in and around the public
• Perform physical labor
• Understand and carry out oral and written directions
• Maintain cooperative working relationships

  EDUCATION

• High School diploma or GED
• One year of general maintenance experience
• Custodial and building maintenance in a school setting preferred
• Background in construction trades preferred
