LineWorks Engineering is seeking a Designer to support our Utility Services group based out of our Tampa, Florida office. As a Designer, the candidate will be working directly with LineWorks' lighting/distribution professionals generating construction prints, utilizing GIS software, and performing basic structural and photometric analyses using in house and client provided systems. This is an entry-level role with full training provided. After training, the technician will build a working knowledge of electric utility lighting/distribution systems, GIS (GTechnology), and design software.
This role offers the opportunity to work directly at a client site, supporting utility GIS operations and collaborating with client teams. Responsibilities may include maintaining and updating GIS data, performing data entry, analyzing asset information, and assisting with mapping and system improvements. This experience provides valuable exposure to client operations, utility workflows, and industry-leading GIS platforms while developing strong technical and professional skills.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in an environmental-related field preferred
- Customer service experience is a plus
- Experience working in field conditions a plus
- Participation in Geography internships or classwork a plus
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and relationship with clients and customers
- Excellent organizational and computer skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, contractors and customers
- Knowledge of ArcGIS, GIS or AutoCAD software a plus
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Maps
- Pre-employment drug screening, background check and valid drivers license
Responsibilities:
- Use GIS and related design software to support utility lighting and distribution system designs
- Assist with the design and layout of street lighting and electric distribution facilities
- Prepare construction prints and update drawings, maps, and project documentation
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and designers
- Ensure designs follow utility standards, safety requirements, and project specifications
- Perform GIS data entry, mapping updates, quality control, and maintenance of utility asset records within the client's GIS platform.
- Analyze and validate data, support system updates, and collaborate with clients to ensure accurate and reliable GIS information.
