Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our accounting department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial accounting and possess excellent analytical skills. The staff accountant’s responsibilities will include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with close processes, distribution of financial statements to investors and maintaining accounts payable documentation.
This individual should be able to accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial accounting, possess excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills. This position offers an opportunity to work with a dynamic team and grow in the field of accounting.
Duties
- Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts
- Preparing journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
- Receive payments and make bank deposits
- Responsible for Month/Quarter/Year End closing tasks and the preparation and distribution of financial statements and related schedules
- Perform other duties as required and necessary to accomplish goals and objectives
Skills/Abilities
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience with Yardi a plus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
- Good problem-solving skills and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, across multiple departments and entities
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Proven experience working in an accounting role, preferably as a clerk or staff accountant
- Strong knowledge of accrual accounting, tax principles, and double-entry bookkeeping
- Familiarity with technical accounting standards
