ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

Lindsey Life Adult Day Center – Decatur, IL

Reports to: Associate Director of Operations
Schedule: Part-time, Monday–Thursday, 10:00 AM–5:30 PM
Pay: $19.00–$21.00 per hour, based on experience

At Lindsey Life Adult Day Center, our Engagement Specialists do more than provide personal care. You will combine hands-on caregiving with meaningful daily engagement.

This position blends the need for hands-on member care with leading member activities, engagement, and programming.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

HANDS-ON CARE & MEMBER SUPPORT

• Assist members with mobility, toileting, eating, and personal care.
• Make member safety a top priority by using good judgment, anticipating potential risks, and always erring on the side of caution when providing care.
• Safely assist members using gait belts, walkers, wheelchairs, and other equipment.
• Provide compassionate support, encouragement, and redirection.
• Remain attentive to members throughout the day and respond appropriately to changes in their needs or abilities.
• Observe and report changes in members' physical condition, behavior, mood, or functioning to the RN.

ACTIVITIES & ENGAGEMENT

• Facilitate daily group activities, games, exercise, and social programs.
• Speak comfortably and confidently in front of a group.
• Encourage participation and create a fun, welcoming atmosphere.
• Work with the Lindsey Life team to Develop creative activities and adapt them to different physical and cognitive abilities.
• Provide meaningful one-on-one engagement when needed.

MEALS & CENTER UPKEEP

• Assist with meal service and provide dining support.
• Help members during meals as needed.
• Maintain and clean dining and kitchen spaces
• Complete daily cleaning and housekeeping tasks, including bathrooms, trash, vacuuming, tables, and coffee service.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming center.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 1 year of caregiving, healthcare, senior care, memory care, adult day service, recreation, or related experience preferred
• CNA experience strongly valued; CNA certification is not required
• Experience leading or facilitating activities, groups, recreation, exercise, or programming preferred
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred
• ServSafe certification required; Certified Food Protection Manager preferred
• Valid Illinois driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to a personal vehicle
• Successful completion of required background check, physical, and vehicle insurance verification
